Applications of 3D Printing is getting widespread recognition in almost all walks of life, and the same is true about Restoration of historical monuments and ancient artefacts. A team of experts from Rome are now using 3D printers to restore historical artefacts which were destroyed by ISIS during their reign of terror at the city of Palmyra in Syria.

Nate Yamane’s is an 18-month-old baby with a rare disease which caused the Childs pulmonary arteries to narrow down to dangerous levels, causing the blood to barely pass through them. In such cases the doctor’s use stets which open up the passage in the veins and the blood can pass through, however, in this case, the child’s tiny pulmonary artery had narrowed to just 9 millimetres. Stents which were available could not be used in this case hence there was a need for a custom made solution

3D printing was recently considered as one of the top 10 technologies of the decade, this announcement itself talks a lot the kind of buzz around it. It has come a long way since 1986 when it the first patent was filed for Stereolithography, but we who follow the technology firmly believe that we are not even closer to finding its true potential
