Whoever penned the phrase “ Sky is the limit” had no clue that one day it would be easier to reach to the sky and beyond, than reaching the depth of our planets oceans. There are many places inside our oceans that we have not been able to explore yet, but things could soon change with some help with 3d printing

Scientist and engineers at the Austrian University of Innsbruck have created 3D Printed ROV (Remotely operated underwater vehicle) called ArcheoRov that can travel as deep as 100 meters. The ROV will be used by marine biologists, environmentalists, to understand the terrain and the biology deep under water. This 3d printed submarine can also be used for search rescue operations during emergencies (I hope they use this to find the remains of mh370).

Some fun facts about the deepest known place to man.

• Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest known point in Earth's oceans.

• It lies at 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) below sea level with an estimated vertical accuracy of ± 40 meters.

• If Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water.

The 3D Printed ROV is created in collaboration with “Arc Team” from the Austrian University of Innsbruck and Witlab 3D printing bureau in Rovereto, Italy. With the success of this ROV it has become the world’s first 3D Printed ROV.

The team behind ArcheoRov made 3 different prototypes before the final version was decided; the team spent around 6 weeks working on this version to get the vehicle perform at its optimum capacity.

Defence organisations all over the world are working on 3D printed drones and it would not be long that they would become the new normal.

While you may or may not agree with my view point but I seriously promote restriction of 3D Printing technology and would like it to be used only for the use of welfare of mankind. We already have lot of tools to kill each other, but then we have never been serious about our existence on this planet and I am sure there is nothing that will stop defence organisations from using this amazing technology.

“ArcheoRov” the 3D Printed ROV is the way to go as it can help us explore the unknown parts of our planet and improve on our knowledge of our planet. Who know some day we might be able to find out the reason of the existence of life on our planet and would be able to replicate life on other planets once we have destroyed ours.
